The video was very cool. Being able to see all the old art that was made many years ago is still up and still looks very good. From all of the detail that was portrayed in the art it must have taken a long time to do that. it was cool how he portrayed scenes from the bible in his art. 

             An albatross can be sometimes used as a metaphor to mean a pyschological burden that feels like a curse. In the poem that we read, the albatross was like a good luck omen to the ship and the people on the ship. When the mariner kills the albatross the people take it as something bad is going to happen now that their good luck omen is gone. The ship crew makes the mariner wear the dead albatross around his neck for punishment, then the curse kills the whole ship crew. Some “albatrosses” that we see in our world today is Karma and other bad things that we do to our self or the environment. Usually when someone does something bad to another person, they are cursed by their karma. something bad will later happen to them because of what they did to that other person. Also when people destroy the environment that they live in nothing good comes out of it. Something bad could later happen to their business or to their home. Ways that we respond to these things would just to treat people the way we want to be treated and to just do the right thing when it comes to our environment. Moeller will help us down the road because the teachers and everyone here are always teaching us to do the right thing.

           When I was a young kid the only thing i could think about was playing with my friends, being outdoors and playing baseball. There were no responsibilities, no job, the only thing i had to do was make great childhood memories. I can’t even imagine taking on the role of a kid who was a chimney sweeper that was demonstrated in Blake’s poem. He described what terrible lives they had and they could do nothing about it. If they tried to run away they would just be brought back and had to keep working. They had no childhood.

            Another thing that I learned in class is that this social injustice is still happening today in our world. Mrs. Ring talked about the kids in Uganda that had been abducted and used for the military and for sex slaves. These kids would be abducted, beaten and forced to kill. I have two younger brothers and i do not know what i would do if they were abducted and hurt like these kids were. We really need to try to help these kids get away from this life of violence.

       I looked at the lyrics to Bruce Springsteen’s song, “My Hometown”. This song sings about the love of the persons hometown. He talks about how much he loved it when he was a kid. Once he got older it seemed as everything from his hometown just faded from him. Everything that he used to love just became not as important to him as he left his childhood.

        Tinturn Abbey is a poem that has the same message. When he would go into the woods as a boy, it was his getaway. He loved everything about nature and he loved going out in the woods as a kid, but when he gets older he begins to forget about all the good times of being a boy out in the woods. Then he goes back to the woods and all the good memories of his childhood come back to him.

        I feel that I have lost some of my childhood memories now that i am older and have a lot of other priorities, but i also feel that i do get out and have a good connection with nature. Sometimes I wish that i could go back to being a little kid, having no worries about the world, just living life and having fun with my friends. When i was a kid my friends and I were never inside, rain or shine. We were always outside being stupid and having fun. Now that i am older hunting and fishing are my getaway from the world and all the troubles I have. When i am out in the woods in my stand I do not think about anything, it is very peaceful and relaxing, and it is the place i love the most.

The world is being taken over by technology,

I feel that there is no apology,

Why do we always turn to the T.V.,

When we could be on a boat in the sea,

Sometimes these technologies are very good,

But we do not connect with nature like we should,

How long will this last,

Because technology moves very fast,

The answer lies within our hands,

All we have to do is play in the sands,

Get out everyone and see the world,

Back in the woods where the winds whirled,

Maybe go to the place where you love to hunt,

I had to make my point very blunt.

            I feel that my poem connects with what i really think. I love being outdoors and love seeing different parts of the world. I do also love technology. I love having the newest phone and game system. Technology has just become a part of our life in our society. It is everywhere. We do need to try to get away from it sometimes, and i feel that the only way we can do this is by getting outside and going hiking, hunting, fishing, or camping.

       The Industrial Revolution was the change from a farming industry to a manufacturing industry. This revolution changed many peoples lives. Instead of the people going to work in their back yard on the farm, they had to go to city to work in factories. A lot of the jobs that were done by men and women were quickly replaced with machines and other tools. These machines got the job done a lot faster but it also created less jobs for the men and women. Another thing that the revolution did was get younger kids started in the workforce. The factory owners would hire young kids to work the machines because they could pay them a very small wage and the kids could work long hours.

       Many new technologies and other new products started to form. This caused people to get rid of old things even if they aren’t in bad shape just to get the new things. I know that i have done this many times. I think we do this because we have a lust for the newest technology and always want to have the best stuff.

      I think that my footprint quiz could be a lot better. The result said that if everyone in the world lived my lifestyle we would need 5.57 earths. Some things that i could do to reduce many of my results would to be recycling more. My family barely ever recycles. If we just got a bin and put all our plastic bottles and aluminum cans in it we would reduce our garbage significantly. One thing that my family does do well is always turn of the lights, tv’s, and any other electronics when we leave the house or are not using them. I think that my family could also start eating more at home. We are very busy with sports between my two brothers and I so we are always eating out. If we could just start doing these little things, our footprint could be a lot smaller, and if the whole world just started doing one little thing it could make our world a much better place.
